Description
Mainly extracts from the "Democratic press" and its successor, the "Chicago tribune" 1853-1876. Bross's four articles for 1853, appearing in the former paper in the early part of 1854, were reprinted as an anonymous pamphlet: "The rail-roads, history and commerce of Chicago," 1854. They are here reprinted wholly or in part.
